Based in New York, the Romashka Gypsy Folk Troupe was born in 2003. Roaming from cafes and all-night jams to apartment parties and subway stops, the band quickly became a driving force in the burgeoning New York gypsy and Balkan music scene. Romashka, meaning 'daisy' in Russian, has performed in a wide array of venues from dance parties at New York clubs to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and numerous folk and world music festivals.
