Paul Jacobs has re-invigorated the American organ scene with his once-in-a-generation gifts as a performer, prompting the New York Times to call him a "brilliant young organist and evangelist for the instrument." His fellow organists have been quick to applaud his phenomenal technique and memory, his charismatic stage presence, his huge repertoire spanning five centuries, and the sense of showmanship he brings to an instrument more usually associated with staid and reserved performances. The 2008-09 season will include, in addition to a rigorous schedule of solo recitals, performances with the Philadelphia Orchestra with Michael Tilson Thomas and with the San Francisco Symphony with Yan Pascall Tortelie. Mr. Jacobs is the chair of the organ department at the Juilliard School in New York.
