Cellist Delaine Salt joined The Phoenix Symphony in the fall of 1966. She graduated from Indiana University that same year with a bachelor's of music degree in cello performance, where she was a student of Janos Starker.
Delaine began playing cello in first grade and by sixth grade was already playing in a community symphony orchestra. When she was a junior in high school, she won the Central City, Co., Music Award, at which time the judge suggested she study with Janos Starker. During high school, she was principal cellist of the Pueblo Civic Symphony Orchestra and a cellist in the Colorado Springs Symphony.
Delaine resides in Scottsdale. She has two adult sons, Bryan and Kevin, and a grandson, Alec.
