Curriculum Resources
Curriculum Resources for Educators
Music is a powerful tool that can inspire and motivate. When integrated with other content areas like reading or science, music provides students with a way of making meaning. They are able to emotionally connect to literature, famous people and historical events; and scientific and mathematic processes. More importantly, they gain a greater understanding of themselves and each other.
Curriculum Resources are divided into four categories:
WHY MUSIC EDUCATION?: Contains research and advocacy information on the impact of music on learning.
PREPARING FOR THE CONCERT: Resources and concert study guides for teachers to help prepare students for their Symphony experience.
MUSIC 101: General music knowledge with links to state and national music education standards.
CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES: Lesson activities, assessment tools and technology resources related to music and music integration.
