Musician Close-Ups
The Phoenix Symphony's "Close-Up" series includes free lecture-demonstrations featuring individual musicians from The Phoenix Symphony talking about their lives, background, and instrument. Each one-hour "Close-Up" includes a question & answer session. The evening Borders Close-Ups series is held at Borders Books & Music (2402 East Camelback, Phoenix) and the morning "Meet the Musicians" series is held at Mountain View Presbyterian Church (8050 East Mountain View, Scottsdale). The "Meet the Musicians" series is presented by the Phoenix Symphony Auxiliary and the Borders series is sponsored by Borders Books & Music. Community Concerts
Library Concerts Sept 29 Saturday, 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. Cesar Chavez Library 3635 W. Baseline Rd., Laveen, AZ Sept 30 Sunday, 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. Burton Barr Library 1221 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ The Phoenix Symphony Woodwind Ensemble Come to the library and check out more than books! Appropriate for children ages 4-12, The Phoenix Symphony Woodwind Ensemble presents fun, interactive and informative concerts at Phoenix Libraries. Assistant Conductor Kayoko Dan leads the concert and the discussion about the oboe, bassoon, clarinet and more! Check us out! People's Pops In collaboration with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, The Phoenix Symphony each season presents a series of free Symphony concerts at Symphony Hall. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Free tickets can be picked up at any Phoenix Public Library location beginning 8 days prior to each concert.
One Nation Community Concert
Mar 1 Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Salt River High School 4827 N. Country Club Dr., Scottsdale The Phoenix Symphony Lawrence Golan, conductor Join us for a concert that celebrates the One Nation program and has participating students performing side-by-side with their symphony teachers. The performance will also feature The Phoenix Symphony performing Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite, Copland's Hoe Down from Rodeo and more. One Nation is a partnership program with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community that enhances the fundamental music education program in the Community's schools. TARGET MUSIC IN THE PARK March 9 Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Steele Indian School Park, 300 E. Indian School Rd. Phoenix Target Music in the Park is a free event designed for families and music lovers of all ages and styles, and will showcase local musicians in a variety of genres, culminating in a special performance by The Phoenix Symphony.
Armonía Community Concert Mar 18 Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. South Mountain Community College 7050 S. 24th St., Phoenix The Phoenix Symphony String Orchestra Lawrence Golan, conductor The Phoenix Symphony presents a concert that celebrates the talented students of the NFL-Youth Education Town Academy and South Mountain High School. The Phoenix Symphony String Orchestra performs, and students join in the performance throughout the evening. Through the Armonía program, more than forty South Phoenix students receive private and group music lessons. Sponsored by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Community Benefits Fund
