Levon Zarasian

First Violin

Violinist Levon Zarasian holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the New School of Music where he studied with renowned violinist and founder of the school, Jascha Brodsky. In 1983, Levon won the prestigious Algur Meadows Scholarship from Southern Methodist University in Dallas where, until his graduation, held the position of Concertmaster of the SMU Orchestra and First Violinist of the Algur Meadows String Quartet. At SMU, Levon studied with Erick Friedman, a prodigy of Jascha Heifetz, who is considered by many as the greatest American violinist of the past century. Since 1992, Levon has been with the First Violin Section of the Phoenix Symphony, performing Classical, Pops and Education programs for the Arizona communities.

In 1976, prior to moving to the United States, Levon was the youngest member of the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra as well as the youngest participant in the Bach Violin Competition in Leipzig, Germany. After his graduation from SMU, he was also a semi-finalist in the AGBU Aram Khatchaturyan Competition in New York. Throughout his career, Levon has performed extensively throughout the United States as a recitalist and in chamber and orchestral performances to audiences including Presidents Ford and Carter. Levon is a sought after private teacher where his students have won numerous scholarships and have pursued careers in music performance.

Levon is an avid photographer and cook. He is married to Dalita Zarasian and they have a daughter Natalie.
