Allison Stanford

Soprano Allison Stanford hails from Conway, Arkansas.  She has sung a variety of roles in opera, operetta, and musical theater, including: Governess/The Turn of the Screw, Lauretta/Gianni Schicchi, Cleopatra/Giulio Cesare, Susanna/The Marriage of Figaro, Josephine/H.M.S. Pinafore, Yum Yum/The Mikado, Papagena/The Magic Flute, and Lucy/You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. This season, Allison travelled to South America, where she sang a leading role in the world premiere of Nico Suarez’s El Compadre with the Bolivian National Symphony.  The 2010-2011 season included her debut with the Phoenix Symphony, under the baton of Michael Christie, as the Sparrow in their production of the World Ward II-era opera Brundibár.  Within the same season, she joined The Phoenix Symphony as a soloist in both Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Ballet Arizona’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Allison has performed professionally with the Symphony of the Southwest, the Atlantic Music Festival, the Bear Valley Music Festival, the Songs Across the Americas Festival, the Philharmonic Society of La Paz, Bolivia, the Oxford-Mississippi Shakespeare Festival, and the Arizona Opera Street Singers Outreach Program.  She is a past winner of the National Opera Association Competition and was a national finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition.  Allison holds a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi.
