Charissa Chiaravalloti
Charissa Chiaravalloti is delighted to join The Phoenix Symphony in the 2011/2012 season as Assistant Chorus Master. Chiaravalloti holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Conducting from the University of Wyoming, and a Bachelor of Music from Pennsylvania State University. Having spent eight years conducting choirs as well as teaching voice at various colleges in Colorado and Washington, she has served as choral clinician in the Pacific northwest and the desert southwest.
Having conducted choirs in many of the southwestern states, Pennsylvania, and Italy (including performances in the Medici Palace and San Marco), more recently, Chiaravalloti directed the Arizona State University Women’s Chorus where she prepared and performed as backstage conductor for Ballet Arizona’s 2010 performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Chiaravalloti has been the Assistant Director of ASU’s premiere choir Symphonic Chorale where she was recognized for her superior ability to prepare choirs for performance.
An experienced educator, Chiavravalloti has also been a musical theatre conductor for productions of The Music Man and Guys and Dolls. Currently in her final year of doctoral studies at ASU, Chiaravalloti is co-conductor of ASU’s undergraduate choral ensemble Schola Cantorum and concert tour coordinator for the ASU Symphonic Chorale’s performance tour of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and performance at the National Collegiate Choral Organization conference, November 2011 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
