Laura Wilde

Laura WildeMezzo-Soprano Laura Wilde, from Watertown, SD recently earned her master’s degree from Indiana University, where she studied with Costanza Cuccaro. Wilde received her Bachelor of Music degree from St. Olaf College, where she studied with Janis Hardy and Mark Calkins.  While at Indiana University, she has performed the roles of Jo in Adamo’s Little Women, Isabella in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri, and Prince Charming in Massenet’s Cendrillon. While attending St. Olaf, she performed the title role in Carmen, Ramiro in La Finta Giardiniera, and Lady Gertrude/Katisha in An Evening with the Mikado. She also created the role of Sarah in The Binding of Isaac, a BMI award-winning chamber opera by Matthew Peterson. 

During her three summers with the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist, she performed the role of Omar in The Death of Klinghoffer and Mrs. Segstrom in Isaac Mizrahi’s production of A Little Night Music and she covered the roles of Cherubino in The Ghosts of Versailles, Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni. In 2008, Wilde performed the role of Mrs. Ott in Susannah at the Chautauqua summer voice program. 

Wilde was a 2010 Metropolitan Opera Competition semi-finalist and was awarded 3rd place in the 2011 Palm Beach Opera Competition. Also, she is a two-time recipient of the Elihu Hyndman Memorial Award through The Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. 

Wilde recently joined the Pullin Opera Studio with Arizona Opera. This season, she has performed the roles of Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana and Siebel in Faust. She will continue with the company for the 2012-2013 season, performing the roles of Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Stéphano in Romeo et Juliette, Ines in Il Trovatore, and Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor
