Broadway, Beethoven and Beatles Spotlighted in
The Phoenix Symphony’s March Performances
Some of the World’s Most Beloved Music to be Featured
PHOENIX (March 3, 2022) — The Phoenix Symphony will bring to life the music of Broadway, Beethoven, The Beatles and much more during a diverse and entertaining month of performances.
“Broadway Showstoppers” will come to the Symphony Hall stage from March 11-13, featuring the vocal talents of Join Anne Runolfsson, Scarlett Strallen, and Hugh Panaro. They will perform such standards as “Be Our Guest” (Beauty and the Beast), “Over the Rainbow” (The Wizard of Oz), “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” (Annie Get Your Gun), “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” (Guys and Dolls), “All That Jazz” (Chicago), “Let It Go” (Frozen), and “Music of the Night” (The Phantom of the Opera).
Then from March 18-20, The Phoenix Symphony will go back to the classics with “Music’s Master Architects: Beethoven and Shostakovich.” Each laboring against demons both personal and political, Beethoven and Shostakovich represent an apex of musical construction and a testament to the potential of mankind. The program begins with Beethoven’s last completed concerto, dubbed “Emperor”, performed by Valley favorite pianist Stewart Goodyear. Shostakovich’s immensely successful fifth symphony finishes the program, perfectly threading the needle of managing the approval of Soviet authorities and expressing the suffering of the Russian people
And from March 25-27, The Beatles come to life in “Revolution: Music of The Beatles. A Symphonic Experience.” The new authorized symphonic tribute to the Fab Four features top vocalists and musicians accompanied by Grammy-winner Jeff Tyzik’s new arrangements transcribed and arranged from the original master recordings at Abbey Road. Accompanied by hundreds of rare and unseen photos from the historic, London-based archives of The Beatles’ official fan magazine – The Beatles Book Monthly – along with stunning video and animation, Revolution takes audiences on a magical musical and visual journey of The Beatles. The production features arrangements of over 25 top hits including “Ticket to Ride,” “Penny Lane,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Get Back,” “Here Comes the Sun,” and “Hey Jude.”

The 75th Anniversary includes a robust mix of classics, pops and special performances, with some truly innovative and attention-grabbing programs scheduled. The entire season schedule can be viewed at www.phoenixsymphony.org.
Season ticket packages and single ticket sales are now available to the general public.
All audience members attending The Phoenix Symphony’s concerts will be required to show either a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours (3 days) of the performance OR proof of vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine authorized by the Centers for Disease Control PLUS a photo ID.
In addition, all guests attending Symphony Hall, ASU Gammage and Orpheum performances must maintain appropriate face coverings in accordance with current CDC guidelines except when eating or drinking.
The Phoenix Symphony was founded in 1947, and has grown over the years to become one of the state’s largest performing arts organizations. Its 75th Anniversary season comes on the heels of the cancellation of the 2020-21 season, and provides a unique opportunity to not only celebrate the organization’s history, but to celebrate its return as well.
