Raises Funds and Awareness for Health and Wellness Programs
Proceeds from The Phoenix Symphony’s 8th Annual Event Benefit

PHOENIX (Feb. 20, 2020) —The Phoenix Symphony hosted its 8th Annual Savor the Symphony Luncheon on February 7 at Symphony Hall Chaired this year by Mac Perlich, CEO of ON Media.
Proceeds raised at this event benefitted one of The Phoenix Symphony’s important health and wellness programs in our community, B-Sharp Music Wellness, a W.O.N.D.E.R Project. These programs touch the lives of so many people including patients, caregivers, families and friends.
“I’m proud to be a part of an event that highlights our Community Outreach programs,” said Molly DeFilippis, The Phoenix Symphony’s Board Chair. “Not only was it an opportunity to enjoy a private rehearsal and a delicious lunch, it also provided an opportunity for us to honor the work of our incredible musicians who participate in these programs year after year. They truly help promote physical, mental and social wellness through the healing power of music.”
The Phoenix Symphony launched the B-Sharp Music Wellness program in 2013 to bring intimate musical performances to long-term care facilities, homeless shelters and hospitals. The goal is to share the benefits of live music with vulnerable members of the community in every stage of life which in turn reduces stress, improves brain function and promotes overall healthy well-being.
Guests enjoyed listening to Finnish pop sensation, Rajaton, rehearsing with resident conductor Matthew Kasper and The Phoenix Symphony musicians for their “Music of ABBA” performances. Following the rehearsal, guests were treated to a hand-made Italian lunch in Symphony Hall created by internationally acclaimed executive chef, Gabriele Bertaccini, of iL Tocco.
Savor the Symphony also featured several exciting live auction prizes, including a two-day stay in Santa Fé and custom opera tour experience with Phoenix Symphony Concertmaster Steven Moeckel, a seven-course dinner for 14 with Chef Gabe, and a ‘day-in-the-life’ tour and ride-along with Phoenix Symphony Board member Sheriff Paul Penzone.
It was also an opportunity for guests to meet Suzanne Wilson, The Phoenix Symphony’s new President and CEO. “I was so impressed by my first Savor the Symphony experience and saw first hand the impact our staff and musicians have out in the community. It was a thrill to work with Mac Perlich and to be part of an organization that devotes this kind of passion and energy into its concerts, events and community engagement programs.”
