The Phoenix Symphony Brings the Gift of Music to Children This Holiday Season

  • Who: The Phoenix Symphony, Archway Classical Academies, and ASU Preparatory Academy
  • What:  The Phoenix Symphony will bring the gift of music to children this holiday season as a part of its Mind Over Music and Classroom Concerts programs by performing ensemble concerts at schools throughout Phoenix from December 2 to December 10.The Phoenix Symphony is the only orchestra in the country to implement a quantitatively measured whole school instructional model based on STE[+a]M theory and practice. By leveraging music as a means to engage students in STE[+a]M learning, The Phoenix Symphony has created a pilot project that pairs musicians with teachers to create new curriculum. Utilizing an external evaluator, the program is measured quantitatively and longitudinally with pre and post testing of treatment and control groups to assess the efficacy of the effort.

The Phoenix Symphony wishes to thank the following sponsors for their generous support of Mind Over Music: Cox Communications, The Boeing Company, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Foundation, J. W. Kieckhefer Foundation, Margaret T. Morris Foundation, The William Randolph Hearst Foundation, Twiford Family Foundation, US Airways Educational Foundation, and Virginia M. Ullman Foundation.
