Each year, Az Business magazine, a publication of AZ Big Media, presents the Champions of Change Awards to recognize those dynamic innovators and trailblazers who are changing Arizona’s business landscape through leadership, visionary thinking and philanthropy. The Champions of Change Awards honor both individuals and organizations. The Champions of Change Awards will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Each day leading up to the event, we will preview one category of finalists. Today, meet the Champions of Change finalists for most innovative business of the year.

Here are the Champions of Change Awards finalists for most innovative business of the year:

AVANA Companies

AVANA creates financial opportunities for underserved groups, designing accessible products and emphasizing client relationships. This approach bridges gaps in financial services for small business owners and entrepreneurs. AVANA has provided more than $1 billion in loans to minority entrepreneurs and served over 500 small businesses, creating more than 5,500 jobs.

Cordia’s Phoenix system, established in 2001, embodies innovation, sustainability, and community partnership. As the central hub for district cooling in downtown Phoenix, Cordia is committed to environmental responsibility, energy efficiency, and collaborative relationships. ECM Technologies
