Broadway’s Best Heads West!
Legendary Stephen Schwartz to Perform with The Phoenix Symphony

PHOENIX – Wicked, the other story of Oz, has been has been a Broadway fixture for more than 10 years. To what bit of magic do we owe this impressive run? None other than the musical wizardry of legendary songwriter Stephen Schwartz, and The Phoenix Symphony is celebrating his achievements with a blockbuster concert of his best-loved tunes February 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater. He brought us the Broadway hits Godspell and Pippin, and collaborated on the scores of major films, including The Prince of Egypt, Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Conducted by John Clanton and featuring Broadway vocalists Scott Coulter, Jessica Hendy, Kelly Rabke and Fay Ann Lee. Stephen Schwartz will join them on stage, making a “wicked” guest appearance on vocals and piano. If you love the bewitching music of Wicked, you’ll be defying gravity and floating on air for this rare treat with The Phoenix Symphony at the iconic Orpheum Theater.

The Phoenix Symphony will also host a VIP Reception with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Stephen Schwartz on February 7.  Before the concert, Broadway enthusiasts can enjoy a cocktail and dinner reception, and after, they will join Stephen Schwartz and other performers on stage for a dessert reception.   All proceeds will benefit The Phoenix Symphony.

Media Availability: Media is invited to attend the dress rehearsal February 6 at 10 a.m.

Tickets start at $18 and can be purchased by calling the box office at 602-495-1999 or online at phoenixsymphony.org.
