John and Gail Allan’s Musical & Community Legacy
In 1996, native New Yorkers John and Gail Allan left the Big Apple for the Valley of the Sun to begin their next chapter. For anyone who’s lived in or visited New York City, live music and theater are simply a way of life—as is hopping on the subway to get there, or anywhere for that matter. When John and Gail arrived in Phoenix, they carried part of that tradition with them, becoming loyal members of the Symphony family. To this day, they can be found at Sunday matinees and New Year’s Eve performances, celebrating the music and community they love.

John and Gail’s story is a beautiful reminder of how music weaves into the rhythms of our lives, whether in New York or Phoenix, and how the Symphony becomes a beloved part of every community it touches.
The Allans have also made an indelible mark on our Symphony—not only by faithfully joining us for Sunday concerts and introducing new audiences to our music, but by ensuring that the Symphony will thrive for generations to come. As proud members of our Encore Society, John and Gail have chosen to leave a lasting legacy. Their love of music will continue to resonate far into the future—an encore that will never fade.
