After a decade of tapping his baton on the podium in the Valley, Tito Muñoz is leading the Phoenix Symphony one last time in Mahler’s Symphony No. “Resurrection,” which runs through Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2024.

Recently, Muñoz spoke with Classical KBACH afternoon host Greg Kostraba about his symphony leadership.

“It’s very bittersweet for sure. I’m ready for whatever the next step is going to be for me. I think the orchestra’s at a point where they are also ready for the next step. I think it’s a good time,” said Muñoz. They’re in a good place. I feel like I’m in a good place. So, it feels good, but at the same time, I know I’m going to miss the place.

Muñoz plans to guest-conduct in the near future.
