Christopher Witt

Associate Principal/2nd Bassoon

Christopher Witt joined The Phoenix Symphony as Associate Principal/2nd Bassoon in 2024. He completed his Masters of Music in Bassoon Performance at the Shepherd School of Music in 2024, studying under Benjamin Kamins. Before this, he attended the Eastman School of Music for his bachelors studying with George Sakakeeny.

Witt was most recently seen playing as guest principal bassoon with the Houston Symphony this past summer for many of their concerts. He has previously played with the Baltimore, St. Louis, and Fort Worth Symphony’s. In past summers, he has attended Spoleto Festival USA, the Hidden Valley Chamber Music Seminar, and the Chautauqua Music Festival.

Born in Skokie, Illinois, Witt began his musical career on clarinet at age 9 and switched to bassoon at age 15. In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, rock climbing, and hiking.
