Emery began playing the trumpet at age 12 in Winnfield, LA. After graduation high school, he attended Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he held positions in the faculty brass quintet and Baton Rouge Symphony. He earned his bachelors of music in education and bachelor of music degrees from LSU in 1993. He then began graduate studies at Arizona State University under the direction of trumpet professor David Hickman. After receiving his master of music degree in 1995, he was a teaching assistant in the ASU trumpet studio while pursuing doctoral studies. In 1996, he won his current position with The Phoenix Symphony. When not performing with The Phoenix Symphony, Emery enjoys teaching and playing golf.
