Sarah Wager

Double Bass

Hailing from Rochester, NY, Sarah Wager was introduced to the double bass in public school at age 10. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music and received her Master of Music from the University of Southern California in 2023.

She has attended summer festivals including Domaine Forget, during which she received a scholarship to return the following year, Music Academy of the West, Sarasota Music Festival, Artosphere Festival Orchestra, and the Lucerne Contemporary Music Festival in 2023 and 2024.

She has appeared with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the San Diego Symphony, and in the fall of 2023, she won Associate Principal Bass of the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra.

She credits her success to her major teachers and mentors: Gaelen McCormick, Nicholas Walker, Edwin Barker, and David Moore.

Outside of music, Sarah has a variety of interests. In the past, she has trained for a half marathon, worked on the bi-weekly news podcast, East to West, of Boston University’s independent student newspaper the Daily Free Press, and organized numerous house shows at her previous apartment in Los Angeles to showcase artists and musicians from the Los Angeles community. Her current fixation is exploring her new home of Phoenix with the goal of visiting a new place every day.
