Associate Principal Trumpet

Ben Nguyen is Assistant Principal Trumpet for The Phoenix Symphony. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California and a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music.

Prior to joining The Phoenix Symphony, Mr. Nguyen performed with the Chicago Brass Quintet, the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. His orchestral background includes performances with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra as principal trumpet; the Chicago Symphony (as an extra); the Northwest Indiana Symphony as third and assistant principal; the Bolshoi Ballet Orchestra; the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra (as an extra); the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra (as an extra) and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

Mr. Nguyen's instructors include Adolph Herseth of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Vincent Cichowicz of Northwestern University, Charles Schlueter of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boyde Hood of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
