Pre-concert Talk Explores the Rich Musical Tapestry of Linda Ronstadt and Her Arizona Heritage

PHOENIX (April 23, 2025) – The Phoenix Symphony is celebrating Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and Tucson native Linda Ronstadt with Ann Hampton Callaway: The Linda Ronstadt Songbook, May 9 – May 11, at Phoenix Symphony Hall.

Tony-award nominee Ann Hampton Callaway brings a joyous night of songs and stories to the stage in celebration of one of Arizona’s most beloved artists.

This concert features Ronstadt’s iconic songs from her early days like “Different Drum” and “Long Long Time” to pop and folk rock hits like “You’re No Good” and “Desperado” to unforgettable classics like “What’s New” and “Am I Blue.”

“The Phoenix Symphony is thrilled to honor Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, music legend and Arizona native Linda Ronstadt,” said Phoenix Symphony CEO Peter Kjome. “Celebrating Linda Ronstadt’s heartfelt voice, diverse range of music and her place in music history creates a beautiful night to enjoy with family and friends.”

Join the Phoenix Symphony for PRELUDES in the lobby 45 minutes before the show for a pre-concert talk with James E. Garcia. He will explore the rich musical tapestry of Linda Ronstadt and her Arizona heritage through the decades of her influential career. James E. Garcia is a Phoenix-based journalist, playwright and communications and policy consultant. As a journalist, James has worked as a reporter, columnist, editor, foreign correspondent and now host of this program. He was the first Latino Affairs correspondent for KJZZ, 91.5 FM, and the first Latino editor of a major progressive news weekly in the U.S., The San Antonio Current. James is also the producing artistic director of New Carpa Theater Co. and author of more than 30 plays.

The concerts are 7:30 p.m. May 9, 7:30 p.m. May 10, and 2 p.m. May 11 at Symphony Hall.
