Stuart Chafetz

The Phoenix Symphony's New Principal Pops Conductor

The Phoenix Symphony today announced the appointment of Stuart Chafetz as its new Principal Pops Conductor, formalizing a celebrated decade-long relationship with Arizona audiences and musicians.

A dynamic and engaging presence on the podium, Chafetz has become a beloved figure among Symphony audiences over the last ten years. As Principal Pops Conductor, he will play a central role shaping the Symphony’s popular programming, bringing innovative collaborations, and high-energy performances.

Chafetz brings exceptional range and a national profile to the role. He holds the title of Principal Pops Conductor at Columbus Symphony and Chautauqua and Marin Symphonies, and is in high demand across North America, with recent and upcoming appearances in Atlanta, Naples, Kansas City, Vancouver, and Seattle. He has collaborated with artists across genres, from Bernadette Peters and Leslie Odom, Jr. to Chris Botti, Kenny G, and Kool & The Gang.

Over the years, Phoenix has become a very special place to me, and I’ve been inspired by the incredible musicians of this orchestra and the warmth of the audiences. I’m thrilled about what lies ahead and look forward to creating unforgettable musical experiences together.
