Summer Update from President & CEO Peter Kjome

June 6, 2024

Dear Friends,

We are on a shared journey in service of our mission, and it is with a spirit of gratitude that I share this update with you. With the support of our community, we serve Phoenix and Arizona as an innovative leader in artistic excellence, engagement, and education – and our service goes well beyond our performances in the concert hall.

The upcoming 2024/25 Season will be exceptional, reflecting a continued commitment to providing extraordinary musical experiences that inspire and advance our community, enriching the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds. We invite you to join us as a series subscriber to enrich your life through great music from the best seats in the house.

In addition to our performances, the Symphony fulfills its mission through extensive Community Engagement and Education programs. Through these programs, which are enabled by your generous support – our musicians are able to share live music with people who would often not have access due to health, economic, or other challenges.

This is an important time of transition. This past year, we celebrated Tito Muñoz following a decade as music director. Building on the accomplishments under his leadership, we are excited to embark on the search for the next Virginia G. Piper Music Director of The Phoenix Symphony. You will not want to miss the amazing guest conductors who will lead our wonderful orchestra next season as part of the exciting search process.

The Symphony is a learning organization that is making progress and reaching higher through collaboration and innovation. We are incredibly fortunate to have a strong, dedicated group of community leaders on our Board and Foundation Board, along with other devoted leaders who guide and support our work. Our superb musicians are dedicated to our community, and some have been members of the orchestra for decades. In addition, our highly capable staff is making outstanding contributions to advance the Phoenix Symphony and our mission.

We live in a remarkable community with an amazing spirit of optimism. That is how we feel about our future at the Phoenix Symphony, and why I am excited for our great orchestra to become one of the most innovative and dynamic orchestras in the nation. Because of you, the Symphony is one of Arizona’s most important cultural assets, and an even brighter future lies ahead.

Your partnership and commitment to the Symphony are vital to our continued success as we enrich the lives of people in Phoenix and Arizona. I am eager to hear your comments and suggestions and invite you to contact me at [email protected]. Many thanks.

Sincerely,
Peter Kjome
