The Phoenix Symphony Presents Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6
Valley Favorite Concertmaster Steven Moeckel Performs
PHOENIX – Maestro Tito Muñoz conducts a night of gripping classics as The Phoenix Symphony presents Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, October 17 and 18 at Symphony Hall. Premiering just days before his death, Tchaikovsky’s sixth and final symphony takes the audience on a pathos-laden journey exploring life, death and the human existence. This emotional symphony brings an unparalleled emotional honesty to orchestral music.
The evening begins with the overture to Rossini’s popular comedy, L’Italiana in Algeri – The Italian Girl in Algiers. The program also features The Phoenix Symphony’s world renowned and Valley favorite Concertmaster Steven Moeckel performing Mozart’s enchanting and lively Turkish Violin Concerto.
“Concertmaster Steven Moeckel’s performance of Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto last November was pure magic. I look forward to working with Steven once again for Mozart’s Turkish Violin Concerto No. 5,” notes Muñoz.
Media Availability: Media is invited to attend the rehearsal on October 17 at 10:00 a.m. Tito Muñoz and Steven Moeckel are available for interviews upon request. Please email publicrelations@phoenixsymphony.org to arrange for credentials.
