Uzu and Muzu Composer Avner Dorman

October 27, 2014

Uzu and Muzu From Kakaruzu Composer Avner Dorman answers our questions about the Symphony for the School’s program that premiers at Symphony Hall on November 4 and 5.

Avner Dorman was born in Israel.  He did not start playing an instrument until he was 9 years old, and he quickly found that he enjoyed creating new melodies rather than just playing what was written.  He has composed many notable pieces, and he wrote Uzu and Muzu as a commission for the Stockton Symphony in Stockton, California.  Below are three videos that ask Avner Dorman questions on three different topics.

Composing Uzu and Muzu
Dorman answers various questions on what led him to base his composition on Efraim Sidon’s timeless story and what makes its message universal.
