Vanguardia America: The Music of Selena – A Phoenix Pops Symphony Concert

Welcome to Vanguardia Arizona. Host James E. Garcia welcomes singer and recording artist Isabel Marie Sanchez, who’ll be performing in the Phoenix Pops Symphony presentation of “The Music of Selena,” April 5 and 6 at the Orpheum Theater. Sanchez was the 2017 Tejano Music Awards Best New Female Artist and a 2022 Latin Grammy nominated artist. She’s joined for today’s interview by Christopher Powell, Vice President of Operations and Artistic Planning at the Phoenix Symphony.

“The Music of Selena” is a tribute “Queen of Tejano Music” and covers her iconic hits like “Dreaming of You,”  “No Me Queda Más” and “I Could Fall in Love” among many others.

We’ll close today’s show with a two-part interview about the upcoming show, April 5 and 6, called The Music of Selena, which will feature Latin Grammy nominated artist Isabel Marie Sanchez singing a string of hits by the woman known as the Queen of Tejano Music, the late Selena Quintanilla, accompanied by the Phoenix Symphony.
