PHOENIX \u2013 The Phoenix Symphony announces the 2014\/15 season, which marks the internationally acclaimed Virginia G. Piper Music Director Tito Mu\u00f1oz\u2019 inaugural season with the Symphony. As Music Director, Mu\u00f1oz was instrumental in developing this Season, particularly the Classics Series. Mu\u00f1oz will lead seven of the Classics Series concerts, as well as one Pops program and Handel\u2019s\u00a0Messiah<\/em>.<\/p>\n “We are thrilled to introduce our new Music Director Tito Mu\u00f1oz to our patrons and our community. Tito represents the dynamic and exciting ability to advance the orchestral art form by celebrating the classical tradition and at the same time experiments with a more accessible, 21st century approach,” says\u00a0Jim Ward<\/strong>, President & CEO of The Phoenix Symphony<\/strong>. \u201cFrom\u00a0Carmina burana<\/em>\u00a0and Boyz II Men to the return of the Harry Potter family concert and the new Legends Series, this season offers something for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n The 2014\/15 Season also marks the debut of a brand new series of concerts at Symphony Hall, the\u00a0Legends Series<\/strong>, with chart topping hits from three of rock and pops greatest recording artists of all time. A tribute to The Music of Queen debuts in March, The Music of Led Zeppelin returns in April, and Super Diamond, a tribute to Neil Diamond, will be performed in May.<\/p>\n Additionally, the Symphony will present several\u00a0Special performances<\/strong>\u00a0throughout the Season including audience favorites Handel\u2019s\u00a0Messiah<\/em>\u00a0and New Year\u2019s Eve Celebration,<\/em>\u00a0rePLAY a Video Game Symphony of Heroes, and\u00a0The Speed of Sound<\/em>\u00a0fundraising concert and event with the Phoenix International Raceway.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Symphony\u2019s Classics Series<\/strong>\u00a0features a line-up of superstar repertoire and guest artists. Highlights include:<\/p>\n Seven of the concerts in the Classics Series are also a part of the\u00a0Coffee Classics Series<\/strong>, which features one hour of music selected from the weekend\u2019s Classics program on Friday afternoons.<\/p>\n The\u00a0APS Pops series<\/strong>\u00a0brings back memories and creates new ones with a refreshing mix of popular entertainers and musical favorites. Highlights include:<\/p>\n Children and adults alike enjoy The Phoenix Symphony\u2019s entertaining\u00a0US Airways<\/strong>\u00a0Family Series<\/strong>\u00a0which consists of five family themed concerts designed for children ages four to twelve. Families can come to Symphony Hall one hour early for pre-concert activities such as the popular instrument Petting Zoo, book readings, arts, crafts and activities. Highlights include:<\/p>\n The Phoenix Symphony continues the\u00a0Scottsdale Series<\/strong>, heldat theScottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, with a season that consists of four great performances featuring world-class guest conductors and artists.
