Piper Music Director Tito Mu\u00f1oz\u2019 inaugural season with the Symphony. As Music Director, Mu\u00f1oz was instrumental in developing this Season, particularly the Classics Series. Mu\u00f1oz will lead seven of the Classics Series concerts, as well as one Pops program and Handel\u2019s\u00a0<em>Messiah<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled to introduce our new Music Director Tito Mu\u00f1oz to our patrons and our community. Tito represents the dynamic and exciting ability to advance the orchestral art form by celebrating the classical tradition and at the same time experiments with a more accessible, 21st century approach,&#8221; says\u00a0<strong>Jim Ward<\/strong><strong>, President &amp; CEO of The Phoenix Symphony<\/strong>. \u201cFrom\u00a0<em>Carmina burana<\/em>\u00a0and Boyz II Men to the return of the Harry Potter family concert and the new Legends Series, this season offers something for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2014\/15 Season also marks the debut of a brand new series of concerts at Symphony Hall, the\u00a0<strong>Legends Series<\/strong>, with chart topping hits from three of rock and pops greatest recording artists of all time. A tribute to The Music of Queen debuts in March, The Music of Led Zeppelin returns in April, and Super Diamond, a tribute to Neil Diamond, will be performed in May.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Symphony will present several\u00a0<strong>Special performances<\/strong>\u00a0throughout the Season including audience favorites Handel\u2019s\u00a0<em>Messiah<\/em>\u00a0and New Year\u2019s Eve Celebration<em>,<\/em>\u00a0rePLAY a Video Game Symphony of Heroes, and\u00a0<em>The Speed of Sound<\/em>\u00a0fundraising concert and event with the Phoenix International Raceway.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Symphony\u2019s Classics Series<\/strong>\u00a0features a line-up of superstar repertoire and guest artists. Highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A historical Opening Night as Tito takes the podium leading his new orchestra in Carl Orff\u2019s majestic\u00a0<em>Carmina burana<\/em>\u00a0and Stravinsky\u2019s adventurous\u00a0<em>Firebird<\/em>\u00a0Suite.<\/li>\n<li>After their blockbuster performance of Shostakovich\u2019s Frist Violin Concerto in the 2013\/14 Season, Concertmaster Steven Moeckel teams up with Maestro Mu\u00f1oz again for Mozart\u2019s\u00a0<em>Turkish<\/em>\u00a0Violin Concerto No 5.<\/li>\n<li>2013 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Vadym Kohlodenko makes his Phoenix Symphony debut with an unforgettable performance of Prokofiev\u2019s grand and lyrical Second Piano Concerto.<\/li>\n<li>Join Maestro Tito Mu\u00f1oz in an evening of beautiful and diverse choral repertoire with The Phoenix Symphony Chorus and the world-renowned Phoenix Boys Choir featuring the music of Brahms and Kod\u00e1ly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Seven of the concerts in the Classics Series are also a part of the\u00a0<strong>Coffee Classics Series<\/strong>, which features one hour of music selected from the weekend\u2019s Classics program on Friday afternoons.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>APS Pops series<\/strong>\u00a0brings back memories and creates new ones with a refreshing mix of popular entertainers and musical favorites. Highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Boyz II Men,<\/strong>\u00a0who have sold over 60 million albums as the best-selling R&amp;B group of all time, bring their peerless harmonies in their debut with The Phoenix Symphony this October.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Holiday Pops,<\/strong>\u00a0one of the Valley\u2019s most beloved holiday traditions, welcomes you and your family into the holiday season. This year The Phoenix Symphony is joined by the Desert Bells Bell Choir and Phoenix Girls Chorus.<\/li>\n<li>Get an early start to Valentine\u2019s Day with\u00a0<strong>Broadway Romance.<\/strong>\u00a0Join The Phoenix Symphony and stars of Broadway as they sing their way through Tony Award-winner Ted Sperling&#8217;s guide to the greatest love stories from Broadway musicals.<\/li>\n<li>Back by popular demand, a tribute to George Gershwin features \u201c<strong>Rhapsody in Blue<\/strong>\u201d, \u201cMan I Love,\u201d \u201cSummertime\u201d and more.<\/li>\n<li>A night at the movies like you have never seen as the Symphony accompanies the film\u00a0<strong><em>Singin\u2019 in the Rain<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0live as it is projected on a large screen above the orchestra.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Children and adults alike enjoy The Phoenix Symphony\u2019s entertaining\u00a0<strong>US Airways<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Family Series<\/strong>\u00a0which consists of five family themed concerts designed for children ages four to twelve.
