Project with Initiative to Help the Homeless and Alzheimer\u2019s<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><strong><em>Symphony\u2019s Education Outreach Extends to Local Health Centers<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PHOENIX-The Phoenix Symphony\u2019s signature health and education program,\u00a0<em>B-Sharp Music Wellness: A W.O.N.D.E.R. Project<\/em> continues in the 2014-15 season joining other outreach initiatives by The Phoenix Symphony.<\/p>\n<p>B-Sharp Music Wellness\u2019s: A W.O.N.D.E.R. Project for the Homeless is a multi-faceted music wellness experience for healthcare and community facilities that serve the homeless. The primary goal of the initiative is to use music as a catalyst for joy and self-expression for individuals who often feel powerless and silenced. As these individuals connect with music, and in some cases rediscover lost talents, they gain confidence, strength and self-esteem. These joyful experiences help transcend the obstacles of poverty and will be held at the following locations: Tumbleweed Center for Youth, Lodestar Day Resource Center, St. Vincent de Paul, Circle the City, and UMOM New Day Centers.<\/p>\n<p>B-Sharp Music Wellness: A W.O.N.D.E.R. Project for Alzheimer\u2019s is a program designed for individuals with mild to moderate Alzheimer\u2019s disease or other dementias as well as their care partners, participants attend Friday morning Coffee Concerts and receive an exclusive pre-concert chat about the day\u2019s music with Principal Timpanist Bruce Pulk. Other optional program components include backstage tours and a &#8220;lunch on your own&#8221; with fellow participants at a nearby restaurant following the concert. Registration and discounted ticket purchase required. The first program takes place October 3 with a pre-concert chat at 10 a.m., one hour before Coffee Classics Program for Appalachian Spring at Symphony Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The Phoenix Symphony gratefully acknowledges the Rob and Melani Walton Fund of The Walton Family Foundation for their generous support of B-Sharp programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Media Availability<\/strong>: Media is invited to attend any of the programs mentioned above.
