The Phoenix Symphony is excited to announce a new collaboration with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony (MYS) as part of our education residency program. For the first time, Phoenix Symphony musicians will be playing side-by-side with students of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony in Mesa Arts Center’s Ikeda Theater on Wednesday, April 10th at 7:30pm led by Phoenix Symphony Associate Conductor, Alex Amsel.
Founded in 1982, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony is made up of three string orchestras, one full symphonic orchestra and a symphonic wind ensemble that rehearse weekly and perform in four formal concerts each season. MYS also offers a Jazz Lab, an Honors Quartets program and a beginning instrumental program for homeschool students.
The MYS full symphonic orchestra, called Division 1, will take the stage with their musical heroes from the Phoenix Symphony in a performance they will likely remember for the rest of their lives. The program will feature Mozart, Bizet and Dvořák.
