Spring Update from President & CEO, Peter Kjome

March 20, 2024

Dear Friends,

There is a shared sense of gratitude across our organization for the extraordinary generosity and commitment that enables our work. The attendance, advocacy, and support of our community have fostered a superb ensemble that is one of Arizona’s greatest cultural assets.

This week, we will announce a spectacular 2024/25 Season. It will be filled with exceptional programs, exciting guest artists, treasured holiday concerts, and thrilling special events. We invite you to subscribe and join your Phoenix Symphony for a season of breathtaking music.

This is our final season with Tito Muñoz as our Music Director following a remarkable decade in this role. This season, we celebrate Tito and the exciting accomplishments under his leadership and enjoy a broad range of inspiring and astonishing programs.

We appreciate the enthusiasm of our audience members, and we’re delighted to report that ticket sales have exceeded the total sold in all of last season. As efforts continue to rebuild our family of audience members following the pandemic, you won’t want to miss the extraordinary concerts taking place. We invite you to join us at Symphony Hall and other venues.

We are delighted to announce the return of The Phoenix Symphony’s signature fundraiser, Savor the Symphony. Guests who attend this premier social event on May 7, 2024 will receive exclusive access to “eavesdrop” on a Symphony rehearsal and enjoy a delicious luncheon prepared by one of the Valley’s preeminent chefs.

Our Community Engagement and Education programs are central to our mission. The four concentrations include education and lifelong learning, Mind Over Music®, health and wellness initiatives, and research. Through these programs – which are enabled by Savor the Symphony sponsorships and other generous support – our musicians are able to share live music with people who would often not have access due to health, economic, or other challenges.

Sustaining our vibrant community with access to arts and culture is essential to attracting the people and the jobs our region needs to grow. Our orchestra is proud to play our part, with musicians and staff who live and work in our community, and programs reaching many thousands of people. We believe these efforts help create a positive atmosphere for growth.

Whether you are a lifelong resident of Phoenix and Arizona or a relatively recent arrival like me, this is your Symphony. Because of you, innovative efforts have allowed us to expand our vital role in civic and community life, with our musicians acting as ambassadors, advocates, and educators for the benefit of Arizona residents.

If you have comments or suggestions, please contact me at [email protected] to share your views about our Symphony and its programs.

Sincerely,

Peter Kjome
