A musical salute to all things automotive, the Phoenix Symphony’s “Sound of Speed” benefit concert and street festival was such a success last year that they’ve whipped up a sequel. The orchestra is handling the multimedia concert — one segment last year included a cinematic tour of James Bond vehicles through the years — while Scottsdale’s Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. is gathering millions of dollars’ worth of racecars and collectibles for the “Pit Road” event, which also will have live music and food trucks.
Details: Saturday, Oct. 24. Street festival, 3 p.m. on Third Street outside Symphony Hall. $10; free for concert ticket holders. Concert, 7:30 p.m. at Symphony Hall, 75 N. Second St., Phoenix. $30-$99. 602-495-1999, phoenixsymphony.org.
