Young Professional Concert Series not your grandfathers symphony

Let’s face it— some of us are just classical music geeks at heart. We can rock out to Three Doors Down and have our fair share of Carrie Underwood faves, but when we’re alone in the car, in need of some down time, we tune in to classical music.

The good news is, we’re not alone and the Phoenix Symphony has officially recognized that fact with their Young Professionals Concert Series, now in its second year. It kicks off September 20 with Sarah Hicks (who conducted for Sting) directing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals conducting the “Star Spangled Banner.” Now that’s our kind of symphony concert.

Other concerts in the series include Carmina Burana on Nov. 24, The Planets on Jan. 10, and Liszt and Estevez on April 25. Other perks of the program include pre-concert activities, a hosted reception during intermission, seating near other Phoenix Symphony Young Professionals in section C, discounts off other symphony concerts as well as dining discounts in the downtown and midtown neighborhoods.

Tickets are $80 for one set and $64 for the second. Tickets can be exchanged for a $2 fee and are available through the box office at (602) 495-1999 with the promo code PSYP. You can also “like” the Phoenix Symphony Young Professionals Facebook page for instant updates.

DETAILS >> Sept. 20, Nov. 24, Jan. 10 and April 25. Phoenix Symphony Hall, 75 N. Second St. $80 for the first package, $64 for each subsequent package with promo code PSYP. (602) 495-1999 or www.phoenixsymphony.org.
