Winter Update from President & CEO, Peter Kjome

December 14, 2023

Dear Friends,

As we celebrate this festive season and look ahead to the new year, it is with a spirit of gratitude that we reflect on what has been accomplished and all that will be achieved in the months ahead. We are on a shared journey in service of our mission, and I believe that next year will be one of the most important in our history.

Arizona is a remarkable state with an amazing spirit of optimism. That is how we feel about our future at the Phoenix Symphony. We are optimistic because of the enthusiasm of people who attend our concerts and the steadfast commitment of members of the Phoenix Symphony family. I continue to be inspired and encouraged by the visionary leadership and support of people who care deeply about the Symphony and our shared future.

We are a learning organization that is reaching higher by standing on the shoulders of those who came before, and enduring relationships are important to every facet of our orchestra. Whether you are a lifelong resident of Phoenix and Arizona, or a more recent arrival like me, this is your Symphony. Together – and with your help and engagement – we are making exciting progress and becoming an even more dynamic organization that is an integral and indispensable part of our community.

Our superb musicians are dedicated to our community, and some have been members of the orchestra for decades. Tito Muñoz completes his tenure as our Music Director this season and will continue his relationship as Artistic Partner. We are fortunate to have incredibly dedicated Board Members, along with other devoted community leaders who guide and support our work. In addition, our highly capable staff is making outstanding contributions to advance the Phoenix Symphony and fulfill our mission.

Our mission is to provide extraordinary musical experiences that inspire and advance our community, enriching the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds. In that spirit, we are glad to announce a new “Under 18s Free” program to be launched in the new year. This terrific new initiative, enabled by donor support, will be available for selected concerts and begins at Mesa Arts Center on Friday, January 5.

Thank you for your passion and engagement that is essential to sustaining and advancing one of Arizona’s most important cultural assets. If you have comments or suggestions, please contact me at [email protected] to share your views about our Symphony and its programs.

Best wishes for a joyful holiday season and a wonderful new year.

Sincerely,

Peter Kjome, President & CEO
