Symphony for the Schools Field Trips

Designed with Arizona students and teachers specifically in mind, our 2025/26 Season Symphony for the Schools Field Trip is all about teamwork, communication and the power of playing in sync by exploring how each section of the orchestra works together to create a unified musical experience. Recommended for Grades K-8.

Open Rehearsal Field Trips

Students and teachers are invited to a unique, behind-the-scenes opportunity to watch the Phoenix Symphony Musicians at work during a rehearsal. Observe how a professional orchestra works and prepares for a concert. Before the rehearsal, students can participate in a Q&A with musicians and guest artists. Recommended for Grades 4-12.

Take the Field with The Symphony Starting Lineup

This season’s Symphony for the Schools Field Trip is all about teamwork, communication, and the power of playing in sync. Designed specifically for Arizona students and teachers, the 2025/2026 program puts the orchestra in the spotlight like a championship team. Each section of the orchestra – strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion – bringing their unique skills to the performance. Students will discover how the conductor and the musicians use non-verbal communication during performances.

Recommended for Grades K-8.

10:00 AM FIELD TRIP AGENDA (approximately 1 hour):

  • 9:30 AM – Arrive to Performance Venue
  • 10:00 AM – Field Trip Begins

11:40 AM FIELD TRIP AGENDA (approximately 1 hour):

  • 11:15 AM – Arrive to Performance Venue
  • 11:40 AM – Field Trip Begins

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • As a courtesy to the musicians and performers, please arrive early and be seated prior to the start of the performance.
  • Please bring a printed copy of your confirmation. A copy of your confirmation can be found on phoenixsymphony.org by logging into your account
  • Please read your field trip FAQ’s and bus driver information.
  • Concerts are for any type of public, private, charter, parochial, home school or alternative education group.
  • Seating is general admission. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Thanks to generous support from the community, admission is free!
  • Check out Valley Metro or Act One for transportation solutions.
  • Symphony Hall Field Trip Bag Policy:
    • Teachers and Chaperones ONLY are permitted to bring in diaper or medical bags.

Education Open Rehearsal Field Trips

Students and teachers are invited to a unique, behind-the-scenes opportunity to watch the Phoenix Symphony Musicians at work during a rehearsal. FIELD TRIP AGENDA (Approximately 90 minutes):

  • 9:00 AM – Arrive to Performance Venue
  • 9:15 AM – Q&A with Symphony Musicians
  • 10:00 AM – Rehearsal

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • As a courtesy to the musicians, please arrive early and be seated prior to the start of the rehearsal. All open rehearsals are “working” rehearsals and therefore the program or pieces may not be played in its entirety.
  • Guest artists will not be present at any open rehearsal.
