Concert Program:
Associate Conductor Alex Amsel leads this program with two pieces inspired by faith. Soprano Liv Redpath joins to sing Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, depicting a child’s vision of heaven. This remarkable program begins with Carlos Simon’s AMEN!, an exuberant piece inspired by Pentecostal Church music, reflecting the composer’s upbringing.
Concert Program:
Lidiya Yankovskaya returns to conduct Rimsky-Korsakov’s beloved Scheherazade, inspired by Arabian Nights featuring concertmaster soloist Rolf Haas. Ten-time Grammy Award Winner and 2024 Kennedy Center Honoree Arturo Sandoval performs his very own Trumpet Concerto No. 2, inspired by his Latin Jazz roots and his love of Rachmaninoff. Samuel Barber’s Second Essay for Orchestra rounds out the program.
Set sail on a musical journey where the smooth sounds of the ’70s and ’80s come to life in a unique orchestral experience. Let the elegant strings and brassy sounds sweep you away as this concert blends together the lush harmonies and iconic melodies of yacht rock legends like Hall & Oates, Toto, Christopher Cross, The Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Buffett and Steely Dan.
Concert Program:
Mélisse Brunet returns to conduct Copland’s iconic Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo, Ives’ Variations on “America” and Bates’ The Rhapsody of Steve Jobs. Stewart Goodyear returns as soloist in Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F, a 100-year-old work that fuses jazz, ragtime, and classical music into a sensational piece, rounding out this American celebration in music.
